Hello! Thank you for visiting my page, I’m so excited to share my journey with you!
I have created this blog as a space where women can uplift, motivate and support other women. My goal is to help women achieve and maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle before, during and after pregnancy. This site will provide fitness tips, exercise programs, physical therapy, yoga therapy, recipes and healthy living advice from the experiences I have gained over the years of being in the health care profession and since becoming a new mom. So whether you are a mom, an expecting mother or just looking to improve your health and fitness, this site is meant for you!
I am a licensed physical therapist and I have been practicing physical therapy for over 10 years. I currently manage an outpatient orthopedic clinic in a small beach town in South Carolina. I have my doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Boston University and Masters degree in Physical Therapy from The University of Connecticut. I am a certified yoga therapist and 200 hour registered yoga instructor and I love to teach classes focusing on therapeutic/restorative yoga. I am married to a wonderful man and recently gave birth to my first baby, a beautiful little girl named Piper Rose in December.
I have always been into fitness and I actually enjoy working out, but I haven’t always been fit, if that makes sense. I actually met my husband in the gym in 2009. My friends and I called him “gym guy” before we knew his name. His name is Grant, and as it turns out, he is the best thing that ever happened to me! I began lifting weights with him and together over the years we have changed our diet and transformed our lives! I was actually in the best shape of my life right before I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. The picture one the left is of my husband and I when we were dating 7 years ago and to the right is us last year when I was about 7 weeks pregnant.
When I became pregnant last year I suddenly found myself anxious about everything. I was surprised to find there was not as much information as I had imagined for women looking to get into shape/stay in shape before, during and after pregnancy. Even with my background I’m not afraid to admit that I was nervous about every little thing, especially in the first trimester. This was my first baby, and I prayed so hard for her, I just wanted to do all the right things. I have helped many women in my practice as a physical therapist during and after pregnancy heal their bodies and achieve optimal levels of fitness, however now I was the one in need of guidance. Flash forward to a year later, and I have learned so much on my journey from pre-pregnancy to becoming a mom that I decided to create a space to share this knowledge. I have a passion for helping others and I’ve always felt as though this was my calling in life.
I am so far from perfect and will never pretend to be. My mother always tells me one of my best qualities is my eternal optimism. Life is too short and I choose to always look on the bright side. I believe in finding the simple pleasures out of every day life. Becoming a mother is truly the best, yet hardest thing I have ever done. No one can prepare you for the chaos that life brings once you become a mommy. My husband and I have learned to laugh and find the humor in it all! I can’t imagine my life now without my little girl. I truly believe that your fittest, healthiest self is one where you are strong, happy with your body and living a life you enjoy. That means having your cake and eating it too! I’m so happy to have all of you join me on this crazy journey of motherhood, fitness and health and trying to find a balance with it all!
Thanks so much for visiting!
